Why exposure matters more than any single roster

Best ball is played across many entries, so the unit that decides your season is the portfolio, not the team. A roster that looks balanced on its own can still leave you with forty percent of your entries riding on one running back, and that is a concentrated bet whether or not you meant to make it.

Exposure is also where correlation shows up or fails to. Stacking a quarterback with his receivers raises the ceiling of the weeks that actually win tournaments, but you can only see whether you have done it consistently by looking across drafts.

Tracking the ADP you paid against current ADP tells you which drafts are already ahead. That is not a reason to act, since you cannot trade, but it does tell you which players the field has moved on and which of your early picks the market now agrees with.

Reading your own drafts honestly

Most portfolios are more concentrated than their owner expects, because the same players keep falling to the same spots and it feels like value every time. Setting a ceiling on exposure before you draft is easier than unwinding it afterward.
