Minutes are the whole game in NBA DFS
Basketball is the most projectable daily fantasy sport and also the most sensitive to news. A player's fantasy output is close to a straight function of minutes and usage, so a single late scratch can move four or five players on the same team at once. That is why the rotation tracker and the injury report matter more here than the projection itself.
The practical consequence is that NBA lineups are built late. A slate that looked settled at noon can be a different slate by tip-off, and the value created by a confirmed absence is usually the largest edge available on the board.
What each NBA tool is for
The rotation tracker shows who is actually getting minutes rather than who is nominally a starter, which is where usage spikes are found first.
