Games to Target
1. Memphis Grizzlies at Chicago Bulls | Total: 243.6 | 8:00 PM ET
This is the top game on the slate and it is not particularly close. Chicago carries the highest team implied total on the board and the combined total is the best number of the night by a healthy margin. Memphis continues to bleed paint points and has been one of the softest interior defenses in the league all season. The Grizzlies are also short-handed in a significant way, missing most of their core rotation, which means Chicago starters should play full minutes in a lopsided environment. The Bulls are not on a back-to-back, there is nothing on Chicago's injury report to worry about, and this game has the feel of a blowout from the opening tip. Start your lineup construction here and look to stack the Bulls side as much as your salary allows.
2. Golden State Warriors (B2B) at Washington Wizards | Total: 232.5 | 7:00 PM ET
The Wizards have been one of the worst defensive teams in the league over their last 11 games and this matchup is as soft as it gets for Golden State's primary options. The Warriors are on a back-to-back and dealing with a long injury list, but the game environment is excellent regardless. Both teams play at a fast pace and neither has the personnel to slow the other down in meaningful ways. Brandin Podziemski has taken on a massive role as the de facto lead guard without Stephen Curry and is the primary fantasy target from this game. The injury situation for Golden State is worth monitoring before lock, with Draymond Green's back and Al Horford's availability both uncertain heading into tonight.
3. Portland Trail Blazers (B2B) at Brooklyn Nets | Total: 221.5 | 7:30 PM ET
Brooklyn is in full tank mode and has been one of the worst offensive and defensive teams in the league since the All-Star break. They are playing their two-way and 10-day players and simply do not have the personnel to defend anyone. Portland is on a back-to-back, which introduces uncertainty around Deni Avdija and potentially Robert Williams, but if the Blazers show up with their full rotation the matchup advantages are enormous. Donovan Clingan had one of the best statistical performances of his young career the last time these teams met and this game is set up in the exact same way. Any Portland player who suits up tonight is worth consideration.
4. Dallas Mavericks (B2B) at New Orleans Pelicans | Total: 239.5 | 8:00 PM ET
New Orleans carries one of the two highest team implied totals on the main slate tonight and the combined total is right up there with the Bulls game as the most productive environments of the evening. Dallas is on a back-to-back, missing Kyrie Irving for the season, and playing with a rotation that has been inconsistent all year. The Pelicans have been playing their best basketball since the All-Star break with a small-ball lineup that has generated an outstanding net rating. The big swing variable here is Dejounte Murray's illness tag, which could reshape the entire lineup construction on both sides. If Murray plays, he is one of the best plays on the slate. If he sits, the usage flows heavily to Zion Williamson in a matchup that suits him perfectly.
5. Orlando Magic at Atlanta Hawks | Total: 229.1 | 7:30 PM ET
Both of these teams are on meaningful winning streaks and playing some of their best basketball of the season. The game is competitive from a standings perspective, which guarantees full star minutes on both sides. Atlanta's interior defense has been a soft spot lately, which opens the door for Paolo Banchero and Wendell Carter Jr. to do damage down low. Jalen Johnson is the highest-projected player on the main slate and gets an excellent matchup against Orlando. The total is solid, neither team is on a back-to-back, and this is a clean secondary stack game to pair with your Bulls core.
Games to Fade
Phoenix at Boston (8:30 PM ET) is the game to avoid on this slate. Boston continues to be the best paint defense in the league and will double Devin Booker relentlessly, making Phoenix's offense nearly impossible to run. The Suns carry the lowest team implied total on the main slate tonight and their players should be avoided across all formats. The San Antonio at L.A. Clippers game also warrants caution with Kawhi Leonard listed as Doubtful, which deflates the Clippers' ceiling and reduces the game's overall production potential significantly.
Injuries to Watch
OUT Tonight
Kawhi Leonard (LAC) - Doubtful, Ankle
Leonard's ankle designation makes him effectively unavailable tonight and is the most significant confirmed absence on the slate. Without him, Bennedict Mathurin stepped into a 35-minute role in the previous game and becomes the primary wing scorer for the Clippers. Darius Garland also sees expanded shot creation duties without Kawhi drawing the defense's attention. The Clippers' ceiling collapses without Leonard but Mathurin's role is legitimate.
Dylan Harper (SAS) - Out, Calf
Harper's absence pushes additional playmaking responsibilities onto De'Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle. San Antonio is deep enough that neither player sees a dramatic usage change, but both log additional touches and shot attempts in this spot.
Ja Morant (MEM) - Out, Left Elbow UCL Sprain
Morant remains out and is not expected back for at least another week. Ty Jerome leads the Memphis backcourt but also carries a Doubtful designation tonight with a shoulder issue. If Jerome cannot go, Cam Spencer and Javon Small absorb the handling duties from a very thin rotation.
GG Jackson II (MEM) - Doubtful, Foot
Jackson's Doubtful tag removes one of the few remaining offensive options from the Memphis frontcourt. Taylor Hendricks and Olivier-Max Prosper pick up the additional forward minutes against Chicago's defense.
Ty Jerome (MEM) - Doubtful, Shoulder
This is the most important Memphis designation to track before lock. If Jerome cannot go, Cam Spencer takes over as the primary ball handler. Javon Small also sees additional usage in this scenario. The Memphis guard rotation is already thin and losing Jerome would make it nearly skeletal heading into the best game environment on the slate.
Alex Sarr (WAS) - Out, Hamstring
Sarr's absence pushes Tristan Vukcevic into a larger frontcourt role. Vukcevic has been productive on a per-minute basis for Washington and is a legitimate mid-range value play in a very soft game environment tonight. Julian Reese also picks up additional minutes as the backup big.
Leaky Black (WAS) - Out, Ankle
Black's absence frees wing minutes in Washington's rotation. Bilal Coulibaly and Will Riley remain the primary wing options for the Wizards.
Michael Porter Jr. (BKN) - Out, Ankle
Porter's absence further depletes Brooklyn's wing rotation. Ziaire Williams and Jalen Wilson handle the forward minutes for the Nets tonight.
Noah Clowney (BKN) - Out, Rest
Brooklyn is proactively resting their young core as the season winds down. This is a trend to factor in when rostering any Nets player, as ceiling and minutes are both capped by design.
QUESTIONABLE - Monitor Before Lock
Dejounte Murray (NOP) - Questionable, Illness
This is the most important questionable tag on the entire slate. Murray has been the engine of New Orleans' offense since his return and the Pelicans are a different team with him on the floor. If he is cleared, he is one of the best plays on the main slate in a favorable matchup against a Dallas team that has no guard defender capable of staying with him. If he is ruled out, Zion Williamson and Trey Murphy III absorb the usage and become significantly more interesting plays in their own right. Monitor this one all the way to lock.
Alperen Sengun (HOU) - Questionable, Back
Sengun's back issue is carrying over from the previous slate. Houston is on the Early slate tonight rather than the main, but his status is worth tracking for those playing multi-slate formats. If he sits, Amen Thompson becomes the offensive hub for the Rockets.
Walter Clayton Jr. (MEM) - Questionable, Ankle
If Clayton is available, he handles backup guard minutes alongside Cam Spencer for Memphis. If he cannot go, Spencer absorbs the primary handling duties with additional run. This is a secondary consideration behind the more important Jerome designation.
Jonathan Kuminga (ATL) - Questionable, Knee
Kuminga is a recent addition to Atlanta's roster and his status is uncertain. His absence does not meaningfully change the primary targets from this game given that Jalen Johnson and the Hawks starters are the focal points regardless.
Jett Howard (ORL) - Questionable, Illness
If Howard cannot play, Jevon Carter and Jase Richardson pick up his backup guard minutes. Howard's absence previously benefited Carter in this type of role earlier in the season.
Ben Saraf (BKN) - Questionable, Calf
Saraf's status will not move the needle materially for DFS purposes. Brooklyn's rotation is so deliberately thin that no individual injury reshapes the game environment in a meaningful way.
Players to Target
Cash Game Plays
These are players with strong projected scores relative to salary and high projected ownership. In cash games, you want players who are likely to hit their floor, and these names do exactly that. Chalk is chalk for a reason.
Josh Giddey, PG, CHI vs. MEM | $9,000
Giddey is the best cash game play on the main slate tonight. He gets the softest possible matchup against a Memphis team that cannot defend guards and has been leaking points at the rim and at the point of attack all season. Giddey's passing game has been on an absolute tear lately and a triple-double is genuinely in play here. He is well-priced for his current level of production and the game environment is the best on the board. He belongs in every cash lineup tonight.
Donovan Clingan, C, POR vs. BKN | $7,800
Clingan is in one of the cleanest big man matchups on the slate. Brooklyn has no rim protector and is giving up put-back opportunities at an alarming rate. Clingan had one of the best statistical games of his career the last time he faced the Nets and the setup is nearly identical tonight. He offers outstanding value at his salary for the ceiling he carries in this spot. The only meaningful risk is the Blazers' back-to-back leading to minutes management, but his production path is as clean as any center on the board.
Jalen Johnson, PF, ATL vs. ORL | $10,900
Johnson is the highest-projected player on the main slate and his matchup against Orlando's frontcourt is excellent. He is coming off a stretch of dominant performances during Atlanta's winning run and the Magic give him the kind of space he needs to operate. His salary sits at the top of the board but his projected output justifies it comfortably. He is a cash game anchor on a night when there are not a lot of elite options at the top of the salary range.
Jalen Smith, C, CHI vs. MEM | $5,200
Smith is in an outstanding spot against the worst paint defense in the league. He has been logging significant minutes for Chicago and is extremely well-priced for the opportunity he has in this game. Memphis has been getting dominated inside all season and Smith should rack up interior production from the opening tip. His value relative to salary is among the best on the main slate tonight and his ownership reflects how obvious the spot is. Lock him in for cash.
Brandin Podziemski, PG/SG, GSW vs. WAS | $8,300
Podziemski has stepped firmly into the lead guard role for Golden State without Curry and his handle on the offense has been impressive. Washington's defense has been the worst in the league over their recent losing stretch and Podziemski should have an easy night generating offense through the pick-and-roll. His ownership is lower than it should be given how clearly entrenched his role is and how favorable the game environment is. He is a strong cash game play and a near-lock in any format tonight.
Dejounte Murray, PG, NOP vs. DAL | $7,700
Murray is a cash game cornerstone if he clears the illness tag. The Mavericks are on a back-to-back and have no guard capable of staying in front of him. Murray has been generating elite playmaking and scoring numbers since his return and his salary is fair for the level of production he has been delivering. Confirm his status before lock but if he is active, he is one of the two or three best plays on the board.
Draymond Green, PF/C, GSW vs. WAS | $5,600
Draymond's offensive role has been elevated significantly with Curry sidelined and he is generating more touches and assists than at any point this season. Washington is the ideal matchup for a player who does his damage in the pick-and-roll and as a playmaking hub. He is well-priced and broadly popular for good reason tonight. If you are building cash lineups in this game, he is a reliable piece to pair with Podziemski.
GPP Tournament Plays
Zion Williamson, PF, NOP vs. DAL | $7,500
Zion's tournament case is compelling on its own, but it becomes a strong argument if Murray is ruled out with his illness. Without Murray running the show, Williamson becomes the primary hub in the halfcourt offense and his matchup against Dallas is outstanding. The Mavs are on a back-to-back and have no frontcourt defender capable of containing him. His ceiling with elevated usage is significantly higher than what his salary implies. Even with Murray active he is an interesting lower-owned option, but if Murray sits this is the best play on the slate at his price point.
Deni Avdija, SF/PF, POR vs. BKN | $8,800
Avdija's ceiling in this spot is enormous if he suits up on the back-to-back. Brooklyn cannot guard him at the basket and he has been one of the most aggressive drivers in the league over his recent stretch of play. He gets to the line frequently, generates scoring in the paint, and has the kind of usage that produces 50-point fantasy lines on a good night. Back-to-back rest risk is the primary concern, but if he is active he is one of the best tournament plays on the board with real differentiation relative to the chalk.
Cedric Coward, SG, MEM vs. CHI | $5,100
Coward is underowned given his current role on the Grizzlies and the quality of the game environment he is playing in tonight. With Jerome and Jackson both carrying Doubtful designations, Coward could see the most usage of any Memphis player. The Bulls' defense is solid but not unbeatable from the perimeter and Coward has been one of the few reliable contributors on this depleted roster. He gives you real production in the top game on the slate without the chalk exposure of a straight Chicago stack.
Paolo Banchero, PF, ORL vs. ATL | $9,600
Banchero is underpriced relative to his ceiling in this spot and his ownership is lower than you would expect for a player with his upside in a good game environment. The Hawks have been softer in the paint lately and Banchero should get favorable positioning against whoever Atlanta sends at him. He plays heavy minutes in a game that matters to both teams and his ceiling is comfortably in the tournament-winning range. If you want to get off the chalk at the top of the salary range, Banchero is the cleanest alternative.
Trey Murphy III, PG/SG, NOP vs. DAL | $7,600
Murphy is the most popular play on the main slate and his ownership will be very high, which limits his GPP appeal somewhat. However, his spot is so good that he earns a mention here regardless. The Mavericks are on a back-to-back and cannot credibly cover him on the perimeter. He has produced some of his best games of the season against Dallas in prior matchups and should get open looks all night. In smaller-field tournaments or if you are building a Pelicans game stack, he is a core piece.
Tyler Burton, PF, MEM vs. CHI | $3,300
Burton is on a 10-day contract and has been picking up minutes for Memphis as their roster continues to thin out. He is one of the cheapest options on the board and provides a legitimate path to production in the highest-total game on the slate. He will not be a popular play but the floor he offers at minimum salary in this game environment makes him a reasonable tournament dart when building a Memphis-Chicago game stack on a budget.
Danny Wolf, PF/C, BKN vs. POR | $5,900
Wolf has been one of the more reliable contributors in Brooklyn's rotation as the team deliberately plays their youth. He gets increased run against Portland and is priced in a range where any meaningful stat line produces real value. His ownership is manageable for a tournament lineup and he gives you a path to the BKN-POR game stack from the Brooklyn side if you want to fade the Blazers' back-to-back uncertainty.
Final Thoughts
The Grizzlies at Bulls game is your anchor and you should be heavy on the Chicago side in every format. Giddey is the safest play on the board, Smith gives you elite value at center, and Leonard Miller offers strong tournament upside in the same game stack at a very low salary.
In cash, pair the Chicago core with Clingan from Portland, Murray from New Orleans if he clears his illness tag, and Podziemski from Golden State. Draymond rounds out the mid-range value and gives you a clean production path without injury risk attached to his designation.
In GPP, Zion is the most interesting swing play on the slate and his ceiling explodes if Murray sits. Banchero gives you elite salary-range differentiation at lower ownership than the chalk options, and Coward from Memphis lets you stay in the top game environment without going straight Chicago. Burton at minimum price is a fine dart to round out a game stack if you need to save salary.
The four names to watch before lock are Murray, Ty Jerome, GG Jackson, and Kawhi Leonard. All four have designations that will move lineups in meaningful directions if they are ruled out. Good luck tonight.
