Games to Target

1. Atlanta Hawks at Houston Rockets | Total: 228.5 | HOU -7 | 8:00 PM ET

This is the marquee game on the slate and the most productive DFS environment on the board tonight. Atlanta arrives riding an 11-game winning streak that has been one of the more impressive runs in the league this season, and Houston is on a front end of a back-to-back at home with legitimate playoff seeding on the line. The Rockets have been one of the more productive offensive teams in the league since the break and Alperen Sengun enters one of the best big-man matchups of his season against an Atlanta frontcourt that has had its interior tested all year. Amen Thompson has evolved into the offensive hub this offense needs him to be and his usage in a spot like this - home, motivated, with playoff implications - is at its ceiling. On the Atlanta side, Jalen Johnson is the most dangerous player in this game and gets a Rockets defense that has been giving up production to opposing forwards all season. The Hawks' starting lineup has been statistically dominant since the break, and Johnson is the engine of all of it. This game is your primary anchor tonight.

2. Portland Trail Blazers at Minnesota Timberwolves | Total: 232.5 | MIN -7.5 | 8:00 PM ET

The Portland-Minnesota game carries the highest total on the slate and deserves just as much attention as the Hawks-Rockets matchup for lineup construction purposes. Minnesota is a seven-and-a-half point home favorite but this game environment is genuinely high-scoring from both sides. Deni Avdija just torched the Pacers for a 32-11-5 line and has taken over the Blazers' offense as their primary creation option. His ceiling in this spot is enormous and he is the most appealing player on the entire slate from a value standpoint. Julius Randle gets a Portland defense that has been one of the softest in the league since the break and his paint production should dominate the matchup. Minnesota's depth through Rudy Gobert, Naz Reid, Ayo Dosunmu, and Jaden McDaniels gives you multiple stacking options at different salary levels. Keep a close eye on Reid's ankle tag before lock - if he is cleared, he remains one of the better mid-range value plays on the board.

3. Boston Celtics at Memphis Grizzlies | Total: 229.5 | BOS -14.5 | 8:00 PM ET

Boston is a massive favorite on the road and the matchup advantages are lopsided in nearly every area of the game. The Celtics are the top rebounding team in the league since the break, while Memphis ranks last - that gap is enormous and should translate directly to second-chance points and extra possessions for Boston. Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum are the clear targets from the Celtics side and both get excellent matchups. On the Memphis side, this game is mostly to avoid unless you are looking for a salary-saving dart. Ty Jerome has been the lone bright spot for the Grizzlies recently and comes off a clinical performance against Denver. He is a low-owned GPP option at his salary if you need an inexpensive guard to round out a tournament build. The blowout risk here is genuine, so limit your Memphis exposure.

4. New York Knicks at Brooklyn Nets | Total: 216.5 | NYK -17.5 | 7:30 PM ET

The Knicks-Nets total is the second-lowest on the slate and this game comes with significant blowout risk that limits DFS upside for most players. Brooklyn has been one of the worst offensive teams in the league since the break and their defense has been equally poor. Jalen Brunson is the primary Knicks target here but his ownership will be lower than expected for a player of his stature, which gives him some GPP appeal. Karl-Anthony Towns gets a favorable frontcourt matchup as well. Josh Hart is listed out with a knee injury which removes one of New York's most consistent role contributors and opens minutes for Mikal Bridges and OG Anunoby to see expanded opportunities. The Nets' side is largely a fade, though Jordan Clarkson has been productive in this backup role lately and represents a minimum-salary dart at the right price.

Games to Fade

The Warriors-Pistons game stands out as the clearest fade on the board when combining the low total, back-to-back fatigue risk, and Duren's uncertain status. The Knicks-Nets game is also worth limiting exposure given Brooklyn's inability to generate offense and the blowout risk that comes with a 17.5-point spread. Neither of those games is worth building a primary stack around when the Hawks-Rockets and Blazers-Wolves games are both sitting with totals well above them.

Injuries to Watch

OUT Tonight

Josh Hart (NYK) - Out, Knee

Hart is listed out with his knee issue and his absence opens additional wing minutes for the Knicks. Mikal Bridges figures to see an expanded role and could push deeper into the rotation with Hart unavailable. OG Anunoby also benefits from the extra opportunity. Hart's absence makes the Knicks' offense slightly less efficient on the margins but does not change their primary targets meaningfully in what is already a soft matchup.

Noah Clowney (BKN) - Out, Wrist

Clowney's absence further depletes Brooklyn's frontcourt rotation. With Clowney out, the Nets are relying on a thin group of bigs and the rebounding disadvantage against New York gets even wider. From a DFS standpoint, this confirms that any Brooklyn frontcourt exposure should be avoided.

Jonathan Kuminga (ATL) - Out, Knee

Kuminga's knee issue keeps him sidelined and his absence was flagged heading into this game. The good news for Atlanta's DFS production is that his role has been limited lately and the primary players - Jalen Johnson, Dyson Daniels, and the starting five - remain fully intact. Kuminga's absence does not materially change how you build the Atlanta stack tonight.

GG Jackson II (MEM) - Doubtful, Knee

Jackson's knee issue is expected to keep him out and with him listed as doubtful, Cedric Coward and the rest of the Grizzlies' thinned-out rotation absorb the extra minutes. Jackson's absence further confirms this is a Boston-side game environment when constructing any Celtics-Grizzlies stack.

QUESTIONABLE - Monitor Before Lock

Jalen Duren (DET) - Monitor, Minor Injury

This is the most important health check on the slate. Bickerstaff noted after Thursday's game that Duren took a hit and they had not yet seen any problems, but that language is cautious enough to warrant monitoring. Duren's presence or absence dramatically changes how you value the Detroit-Golden State game environment. If he plays, he is one of the best cash game plays on the board in a favorable interior matchup. If he sits, avoid the game entirely from a DFS construction standpoint and redirect his salary to the Hawks-Rockets or Blazers-Wolves environments.

Naz Reid (MIN) - Monitor, Ankle

Reid's ankle tag is the second most important designation to confirm before lock. He has been one of the best bench values in the league all season and his production at his salary point is excellent. If he plays, he belongs in cash lineups as a mid-range value piece in the best-total game on the slate. If he sits, Kyle Anderson and additional frontcourt minutes are distributed among Minnesota's remaining bigs.

Quinten Post (GSW) - Questionable, Foot

Post's foot issue creates some uncertainty around Golden State's center rotation. If he cannot go, the Warriors' frontcourt depth becomes even thinner and Draymond Green may see additional rim responsibilities. Post's DFS value is marginal regardless of this designation given the game environment.

Vit Krejci (POR) - Questionable, Calf

Krejci's calf issue is worth checking before lock for those building Portland game stacks. His absence does not change the primary Blazers targets but does tighten the rotation around Jrue Holiday and the backcourt.

Ben Saraf (BKN) - Probable, Foot

Saraf is listed as probable and expected to play. His usage for the Nets is limited and his presence or absence does not meaningfully change how you approach the Brooklyn side of the Knicks matchup.

Players to Target

Cash Game Plays

Deni Avdija, SF/PF, POR at MIN | $8,400

Avdija is the most appealing cash play on the entire slate. He just delivered a massive performance against Indiana and the matchup against Minnesota's defense - which has been among the softest in the league since the break - is outstanding. He is well-priced for the ceiling he carries and his value relative to salary is among the best on the board tonight. His ownership will be very high and rightfully so. He anchors every cash lineup you build tonight.

Alperen Sengun, C, HOU vs. ATL | $8,600

Sengun is in a dream matchup against Atlanta's interior defense. The Hawks have been susceptible to pick-and-roll bigs all season and Sengun's combination of scoring, rebounding, and playmaking in that role is unmatched at his position. He is well-priced relative to his projected output and his ownership is moderate enough that he functions as a chalk anchor without being an overcrowded play. He belongs in every cash lineup tonight alongside your Rockets game stack.

Julius Randle, PF, MIN vs. POR | $8,200

Randle is in an excellent spot against Portland's defense, which has been statistically one of the softest since the break. He has been producing at a high level recently and his matchup inside is favorable. His ownership is broadly high tonight and his floor in this game environment is reliable enough to justify the chalk exposure in cash. He pairs naturally with Avdija to give you full game-stack exposure on both sides of the best-total game on the board.

Amen Thompson, PG, HOU vs. ATL | $8,100

Thompson has elevated his game to a different level in the home stretch of the season and this matchup against Atlanta is exactly where you want him. He is well-priced for his current production and his ownership reflects a player who is broadly respected at his salary. The Hawks will put their best wing defender on Kevin Durant which creates cleaner space for Thompson to operate as a driver and finisher. He rounds out the Houston game stack in cash formats.

Jaylen Brown, SG/SF, BOS at MEM | $9,000

Brown is in one of the cleanest matchups on the slate against a Memphis team that is last in the league in rebounding rate since the break. He gets clean looks from the perimeter and paint opportunities against a defense that has been routinely exploited over the past month. His ownership is broadly high tonight and he is a reliable cash anchor on the Boston side. Pair him with Tatum if your salary allows it for full Celtics game-stack exposure.

Rudy Gobert, C, MIN vs. POR | $7,200

Gobert is well-priced for his production floor in the highest-total game on the slate. The Portland offense pushes pace and does not have a rim protector capable of deterring him at the basket. His ownership is moderately high and his value relative to salary is excellent. He gives you salary relief to pay up at the elite positions while still accessing one of the two best game environments on the board.

GPP Plays

Jalen Brunson, PG, NYK at BKN | $9,500

Brunson's ownership tonight is well below what you would expect for a player of his caliber in a matchup this soft. The Nets have been one of the most exploitable defensive teams in the league and Brunson has the green light to go to work in the halfcourt all night. He is a strong GPP anchor who gives you differentiation from the field that will be heavily concentrated in the Hawks-Rockets and Blazers-Wolves environments. His ceiling in this spot is tournament-winning and his ownership is low enough to be a genuine differentiator in larger-field contests.

Ty Jerome, PG, MEM vs. BOS | $6,900

Jerome is a compelling low-owned tournament play after a dominant performance against the Nuggets. The Celtics will focus defensively on limiting second-chance points, which actually plays into Jerome's strengths as a pick-and-roll operator. He is the rare Memphis player worth rostering in GPP and his ceiling relative to salary is legitimate.

Donovan Clingan, C, POR at MIN | $7,700

Clingan's ownership is very low on this slate despite playing in the highest-total game on the board. Minnesota's paint defense has been inconsistent since the break and Clingan has been one of the better rim-running big men in the league in terms of his per-minute production. He comes off a massive game against Indiana and the trend of him dominating opposing bigs in this role is established. He is the contrarian big play in the Blazers-Wolves game stack and gives you differentiation from the Randle-Gobert chalk combination.

Onyeka Okongwu, C, ATL at HOU | $7,000

Okongwu is one of the most underrated plays on the slate. His ownership is lighter than it should be for a starting center in the top game environment tonight and his matchup against Houston's frontcourt is favorable. He operates as a roll man and finisher for Atlanta's high-octane offense and his production in this role has been consistent all season. He gives you access to the Hawks game stack from a different angle than Johnson and allows you to pay up at other positions.

Reed Sheppard, PG/SG, HOU vs. ATL | $6,400

Sheppard is the most interesting secondary play in the Houston game stack. The Hawks will focus their defensive attention on Durant and Sengun, which creates real space for Sheppard to operate as a shooter and playmaker off the ball. He is a natural stack piece for the Rockets game and his ownership is lighter than the other Houston primary targets. His ceiling in a game environment this good at his salary is legitimate tournament upside.

Jrue Holiday, PG, POR at MIN | $6,500

Holiday is a quiet GPP play in the highest-total game on the slate. His ownership is moderate but not overwhelming and he pairs naturally with Avdija in a Portland game stack without the chalk exposure of the top options. His playmaking and the pace of this game create conditions where a 35-plus fantasy point performance is realistic. He is a clean secondary piece in the Blazers-Wolves stack.

Jabari Smith Jr., PF, HOU vs. ATL | $6,500

Smith Jr. draws what looks like the best individual matchup in the Hawks-Rockets game on paper. The projection notes put him against Jalen Johnson defensively, which should create legitimate offensive opportunities in a competitive, fast-paced game. His ownership is light tonight and he is well-priced for the ceiling he carries in a top-tier game environment. He is the tournament swing play in the Houston stack alongside Sheppard.

Final Thoughts

Tonight is a focused five-game slate and the value is concentrated in two places. Start your lineup construction in the Hawks-Rockets game with Johnson, Sengun, and Thompson, then build into the Blazers-Wolves game with Avdija and Randle. The combination of those two game stacks covers the highest total on the slate and the best individual matchups at nearly every position.

The Duren injury situation in Detroit is the single most important thing to check before lock. If he is out, the Warriors-Pistons game is a full avoid and you should redirect that salary into the top two game environments. If he is active, Daniss Jenkins becomes an interesting cash game addition given his usage spike and favorable matchup in a game that has more scoring potential than the total suggests.

In GPP, Brunson in the Knicks-Nets blowout game gives you the most differentiation on the slate. His ownership being lower than expected for a player in that soft a matchup is a genuine edge. Pair him with Clingan from Portland and you have a lineup construction that will be on very few sheets in large-field contests while still accessing two legitimate scoring environments. Good luck tonight.
