Weather to Watch

Baltimore at Kansas City | Kauffman Stadium | Clear, 73F | Wind: 14.6 mph SSW

Wind blowing out to left-center, classified as elite with a nearly double-digit HR boost. This is the single biggest environmental edge on the slate and forces both offenses into the stack conversation despite Kauffman playing as a below-average power park.

Philadelphia at Chicago Cubs | Wrigley Field | Overcast, 48F | Wind: 9.9 mph ESE

Crosswind at Wrigley combined with cool temps grading out as a mild suppressor. Power plays at the Friendly Confines lose a touch of juice tonight, which matters for Schwarber and the entire Phillies side.

Toronto at LA Angels | Angel Stadium | Overcast, 67F | Wind: 9.5 mph SW

Modest wind out with a light HR boost. Not a game-changer but enough to give power hitters a small bump, which is worth knowing with Cease and Detmers both on the bump in a park that already plays above average for offense.

Atlanta at Washington | Nationals Park | Overcast, 53F | Wind: 12.8 mph NW

Crosswind and cool evening grade out as a slight suppressor. Notable because ATL is a stack target and the conditions here work against the bats, not for them.

All other games at Coors, T-Mobile, and the two domes are either neutral or indoor. No precipitation threats anywhere on the slate.

HR Calls

The standard model loves the Dodgers stack at Coors, the sleeper model flags pitchers whose ERAs are hiding how hittable they have been, and the hybrid model stacks all three inputs with a weather overlay. Three names worth buying tonight, one from each model.

Shohei Ohtani (LAD) vs Jose Quintana | Hitter: $6,800 [STANDARD MODEL]

Top HR score on the board. Ohtani walks into Coors against Quintana, who owns a 5.63 ERA and a 7.00 FIP on the season and is giving up fly balls at a 64 percent clip. Ohtani is barreling 23 percent of his contact with a 42 percent hard-hit rate, and when you pair that profile with a 120.6 park factor against a pitcher allowing a 21.7 percent HR/FB, the math gets absurd in a hurry. This is the type of spot where he can single-handedly win a GPP.

Pete Alonso (BAL) vs Seth Lugo | Hitter: $4,900 [HYBRID MODEL]

The cleanest hybrid pick on the slate. The hybrid score stacks Alonso's 17.9 percent barrel rate and .286 xISO (the standard power angle), with Lugo's regression profile where his 1.48 ERA sits on a 2.14 FIP and 3.32 xFIP (the sleeper angle), and layers in the Kauffman wind-out elite weather boost on top. Salary is very reasonable for a hitter this disruptive, and the matchup lines up as a legitimate leverage spot against chalk.

Kyle Stowers (MIA) vs Michael McGreevy | Hitter: $4,900 [SLEEPER MODEL]

McGreevy is living on luck: 2.49 ERA sitting on top of a 4.24 FIP and a 4.27 xFIP, plus a LOB rate pushing 87 percent. Stowers counters with a 19 percent barrel rate and a .272 xISO, hitting fourth for Miami indoors at loanDepot. The dome suppresses run totals a bit, but Stowers' raw contact quality and McGreevy's unsustainable profile make this a cheap HR swing with real upside.

Stacks to Target

The Dodgers sit atop the ROO board by a clear margin with an implied total over 8 at Coors. Behind them, Atlanta offers a bat-heavy pick against Jake Irvin at a favorable park despite the headwind.

1. LAD vs Jose Quintana (L) | Implied Total: 8.04 | ROO Score: 8.2/10

This is the stack of the night by a wide margin. Implied total of 8.04 is top shelf, Quintana carries a 7.00 FIP and walks nearly 22 percent of the hitters he faces, and Coors does the rest. The starter vulnerability score is elite and the implied run total maxes out at 10 on the ROO scale. Platoon angle is less relevant than you would think with LAD: against LHP this season, their LHH batters post a 164 wRC+ and their RHH hit for a 114 wRC+, so both sides of the lineup are live. That said, Ohtani (L, leadoff), Tucker (L, 2), and Muncy (L, 5) all get the platoon edge against the southpaw, while Will Smith (R, 3) and Teoscar Hernandez (R, 4) own a .386 wOBA vs RHH but still slug LHP well. This will be one of the chalkiest stacks of the season, but chalk in this spot is earned, and construction matters more than pivoting off. Get the top of the order into every cash build.

Core pieces: Shohei Ohtani (L, 1, $6,800), Will Smith (R, 3, $4,900), Teoscar Hernandez (R, 4, $5,600), Max Muncy (L, 5, $5,200)

2. ATL vs Jake Irvin (R) | Implied Total: 4.73 | ROO Score: 5.8/10

Irvin owns a 6.16 ERA with a sky-high 1.42 HR/9 and is giving up fly balls at a 46 percent clip. The bullpen vulnerability score behind him is 8 out of 10 and the park factor grades at an enormous 149 on the ROO breakdown, which more than offsets the crosswind suppressor. Platoon angle: Irvin has a 5.84 ERA vs LHH compared to 6.75 vs RHH, but the real story is 17 percent HR/FB to righties. ATL's LHH vs RHP grouping sits at a 137 wRC+ for the season, and Matt Olson (L, 3) carries a .401 hard-hit rate and a 14.8 percent barrel rate in that split. Ronald Acuna (R, 1) and Austin Riley (R, 4) both grade out among the top HR calls on the slate and serve as the right-handed anchors. Lower ownership here thanks to the Dodgers sucking up attention, which is what makes this a legitimate leverage stack.

Core pieces: Ronald Acuna (R, 1, $5,400), Drake Baldwin (R, 2, $4,800), Matt Olson (L, 3, $4,500), Austin Riley (R, 4, $3,800)

3. SEA vs J.T. Ginn (R) | Implied Total: 4.74 | ROO Score: 5.4/10

Ginn is running on a small 9.1 IP sample this season, and he has allowed an inflated 25.5 percent HR/FB pace early. The ROO board flags a weak ATH bullpen behind him, and T-Mobile grades as hitter-friendly on the ROO scale tonight. Platoon read is tricky: Ginn's small-sample split shows him better vs LHH (0.209 wOBA in 7.1 IP) than vs RHH (0.287 wOBA in 9 IP), and SEA's LHH vs RHP group at 121 wRC+ is their stronger side. Cal Raleigh (S, 2) is the anchor either way with a slate-leading 18.6 barrel rate and a 54 percent pull rate from the left side. Julio Rodriguez (R, 3) and Randy Arozarena (R, 5) round out the right-handed power, and the eruption potential of 6.4 suggests meaningful upside on top of the modest Vegas number.

Core pieces: Cal Raleigh (S, 2, $4,600), Julio Rodriguez (R, 3, $4,100), Randy Arozarena (R, 5, $4,000), Dominic Canzone (L, 8, $2,800)

Pitchers

Cease and Lugo headline a top tier where every option has a flaw. Building around the mid-tier at $7,000 to $8,500 is where the salary value lives tonight.

Dylan Cease (TOR) vs LAA | $9,800 | GPP

Cease is printing a 36 percent K rate through four starts with a 1.92 FIP that is even stronger than his headline 1.74 ERA. Angel Stadium grades as a wind-out park tonight with a modest HR boost, and LAA has Trout and Adell sitting as the kind of sluggers who can punch one out against even the best arms. The upside is top on the slate. Between the tax salary and the slight park headwind, he fits better in GPP than in cash.

Seth Lugo (KC) vs BAL | $9,600 | CASH

Lugo is the safest projection on the board based on season ERA and WHIP, and against a BAL lineup striking out at a 25 percent clip, the K floor is real. Worth noting that the wind is blowing out at Kauffman and Lugo gives up fly balls at a 33 percent rate, so there is HR risk baked in. Still, the combination of a 0.99 WHIP, strong bullpen behind, and the probability of a quality start makes him a cash-game cornerstone.

Aaron Nola (PHI) at CHC | $8,200 | CASH

Crosswind at Wrigley is working for him tonight, and the cold weather suppresses power. Nola's 3.01 xFIP says he has been better than his 4.03 ERA suggests, and the CHC lineup has been in a cold stretch with an 88 wRC+ over the last 30 days. Salary is reasonable for a pitcher at this level of floor, and his K rate vs RHH is 39 percent which plays into Happ, Suzuki, and Busch exposure.

Max Meyer (MIA) vs STL | $7,600 | GPP

Punt-price SP in a dome against a STL lineup that ranks below average against RHP. Meyer's 3.79 FIP suggests his 4.12 ERA overstates how bad he has been, and the projected ownership is tiny. Win probability is the risk, but for a GPP build where you need a contrarian pivot off Cease or Lugo, the salary savings open up dominant bat combinations.

Emerson Hancock (SEA) vs ATH | $8,500 | CASH

Hancock has quietly built a 2.75 FIP with a near-30 percent K rate in 23.2 IP, and the ATH lineup has been in a cold stretch with an 87 wRC+ over the last month. T-Mobile Park is neutral tonight, and he is facing a lineup without a true slate-breaker. This is the sleeper-safe cash play if you want to pay up from Meyer without paying Lugo money.

Pitcher Regression to Watch

Early in the season the samples are still shallow, but two starters tonight are running on borrowed luck and the numbers are telling. Both pitcher matchups have real implications for how to stack against them.

Michael McGreevy (STL) at MIA (Negative Regression Candidate)

The 2.49 ERA looks fine on paper but it is propped up by a .19 BABIP and an 87 percent LOB rate, neither of which is sustainable. His FIP (4.24) and xFIP (4.27) both think he is essentially a 4-plus ERA pitcher. MIA's LHH split vs RHP is 113 wRC+ with Kyle Stowers and Jakob Marsee leading the charge, and the dome removes any chance for weather to help him out. When a pitcher this lucky meets a lineup he has no business suppressing, the MIA bats become a much better GPP stacking target than their 4.63 implied total suggests.

Seth Lugo (KC) vs BAL (Negative Regression Candidate)

Yes, Lugo is a cash pitcher tonight, but the regression flag is real. His 1.48 ERA sits on a 2.14 FIP and a 3.32 xFIP, with a 0.00 HR/9 that cannot hold forever in a wind-out environment at Kauffman. BAL's RHH vs RHP group posts a 100 wRC+ with Alonso, Henderson (switch), and Taylor Ward carrying the power. The bet is that the Orioles get to him for one or two HRs tonight, which means Alonso at $4,900 is exactly the kind of one-off HR anchor that opens up cash payouts even in builds that roster Lugo.

Final Thoughts

Cash game foundation tonight is Lugo at SP with two Dodgers bats as the anchors, ideally Ohtani plus either Smith or Tucker. If you want to pay up for Cease instead, the LAA exposure trims back and the build becomes more bat-heavy, which in a slate this top-loaded by Coors is a defensible plan.

Biggest situational news to monitor before lock: whether Kauffman wind readings hold or pick up before the 6:40 first pitch, any late lineup movement for Freddie Freeman (he is listed without a batting order), and any rain threat at Wrigley that could shift bullpen availability in the PHI at CHC game.

Top GPP pivots that have real ceiling but may be underowned: the ATL stack against Irvin is the cleanest leverage off the LAD chalk, Kyle Stowers is the sleeper HR swing, and Max Meyer as a punt SP opens up enough salary to roster Ohtani, Tucker, Trout, and Cal Raleigh in a single lineup. Dodger chalk is unavoidable at the top of the order, but fading the bottom (Rojas, Pages, Freeland) where ownership gaps exist lets you be different while staying in the premium stack.

Construction advice: LAD should be 4-5 stacked in most GPP builds, with an ATL or SEA secondary for pairing. Avoid full exposure to PHI at Wrigley given the suppressor and crosswind, and do not over-build COL even with the Coors environment. Their offense has been cold (82 wRC+ over the last month) and facing Wrobleski who owns a 0.69 ERA.
