Weather to Watch

Wednesday's slate has two outdoor games where the wind is doing real work and two more where rain is in play. Treat these as your first filter when stacking.

Colorado at Cincinnati | Great American Ball Park | Clear, 66F | Wind: 11 mph WNW

Wind blowing out to right-center at a stadium that already plays as a launching pad. The model has this as the most HR-friendly environment on the slate by a wide margin.

San Francisco at Philadelphia | Citizens Bank Park | Light Drizzle, 62F | Wind: 12 mph SE

Crosswind pushes balls toward the short porch in right. Drizzle is in the forecast but not heavy enough to threaten first pitch as of now. Worth monitoring.

St. Louis at Pittsburgh | PNC Park | Overcast, 60F | Wind: 9 mph NNW

This is the rain game. Forecast pegs precipitation chance at two-thirds. Lock-night lineup adjustments are likely if a delay or postponement gets called.

Houston at Baltimore | Camden Yards | Drizzle, 61F | Wind: 9 mph SSE

Lower-grade rain risk. Crosswind helps a bit toward right. Camden still plays hot for power but the chill knocks a tick off.

Washington at New York Mets | Citi Field | Overcast, 53F | Wind: 9 mph ESE

Coldest game on the slate, and Citi already grades cold. Knock home runs down here in your projection scrubs.

HR Calls

The standard model loves a power righty against an extreme fly-ball pitcher in a launchpad, and the sleeper model is screaming about hitters whose expected ISO has not caught up to the price tag. We have both today.

Sal Stewart (CIN) $5,300 vs Tomoyuki Sugano [SLEEPER MODEL]

Stewart is the slate's top sleeper score and he also lives in the standard model's top tier. The 20% barrel rate is real, his expected ISO is better than his actual ISO, and Sugano runs a 42% fly ball rate. Tonight Stewart gets the Great American treatment with the wind pushing balls out to right-center. Sal is a righty and Sugano gives up a 13% HR/FB rate, this matchup is everything.

Kyle Schwarber (PHI) $5,500 vs Logan Webb [STANDARD MODEL]

Schwarber's standard score paces the entire slate. The 20.8% barrel rate, 28.7% HR/FB, and 54% pull rate against a Citizens Bank wind that is actively pushing toward the short porch is the kind of stack that doesn't need to be subtle. Webb has a heavy ground-ball profile but lefties have hit him for a .372 wOBA this year, and Schwarber owns the type of contact that punishes any ball that stays in the air.

Yordan Alvarez (HOU) $6,500 vs Chris Bassitt [SLEEPER MODEL]

Alvarez is the most expensive HR call on the board for a reason. Expected ISO of .335 against a pitcher running a 6.75 ERA who has allowed a .471 wOBA to lefties this season. Bassitt has not solved any of his problems against left-handed contact and Camden's short porch in right has historically been a Yordan playground. The price hurts, but pay the toll.

Stacks to Target

Three teams clear the bar tonight, and one of them carries the slate's only 10/10 implied total grade. The ROO model has stacking concentrated around two parks, and the cracks all show up against the same kind of starter: low strikeouts, high contact damage allowed.

1. Houston Astros vs Chris Bassitt (R) | Implied Total: 4.27 | ROO Score: 6.5/10

Bassitt's 7.9 starter vulnerability score is the highest in this group, and he earns it. He has a 6.75 ERA, a 9% strikeout rate that is the worst on the slate, and a .471 wOBA allowed to lefties. Houston's lineup is built to attack that. Yordan Alvarez owns a 1.103 OPS vs LHP this year and his vs-RHP wOBA is still .462, so he plays vs anyone. Carlos Correa is a righty but his vs-RHP wOBA is fine and Bassitt has no platoon advantage to lean on. The park weather grade comes in at 7.2 because Camden is one of the better hitter parks even with light rain in play.

Core pieces: Yordan Alvarez (L, $6,500, batting 2nd), Christian Walker (R, $4,400, batting 5th, 181 wRC+ vs RHP), Carlos Correa (R, $4,200, batting 1st), Brice Matthews (R, $3,000, batting 9th and a stealth target with the slate's third-highest standard HR score).

2. Cincinnati Reds vs Tomoyuki Sugano (R) | Implied Total: 5.46 | ROO Score: 6.4/10

Highest implied total on the slate, period. The model graded Cincinnati's run environment at 10/10 because Great American is the day's best HR park and Sugano runs a 42% fly ball rate. Sugano is a righty so the Reds bench loses a little of its lefty edge, and Cincinnati's RHH-vs-RHP team profile is a touch below average. The path to ceiling lives in their two best individual matchups: Sal Stewart's vs-RHP wRC+ is 142 with a .291 ISO, and Elly De La Cruz sits at 131 wRC+ with elite pull power. Park weather sub-score of 7.7 is the highest of any stack.

Core pieces: Sal Stewart (R, $5,300, batting 4th and the slate's top HR call), Elly De La Cruz (S, $6,200, batting 3rd), Spencer Steer (R, $2,900, batting 5th as a punt extension), Tyler Stephenson (R, $3,000, batting 6th).

3. Baltimore Orioles vs Peter Lambert (R) | Implied Total: 4.73 | ROO Score: 6.4/10

Lambert has 11 MLB innings to his name across two 2026 outings, and the bullpen behind him grades out at 7.9 on the vulnerability scale because Houston's relief corps has been leaky. The Orioles are LHH-heavy with a 114 wRC+ vs RHP team mark, and Camden's drizzle takes a small bite out of the power output without dragging down the implied total. Yes, this will be the chalk stack of the night. It earns it.

Core pieces: Gunnar Henderson (L, $5,900, batting 1st), Adley Rutschman (S, $4,100, batting 3rd with a 233 wRC+ vs RHP), Taylor Ward (R, $4,600, batting 2nd, 145 wRC+ vs RHP), Pete Alonso (R, $4,900, batting 4th), Samuel Basallo (L, $3,900, batting 6th).

Pitchers

The top tier is short tonight. Skubal sits as the slate-clearing ace, then a chunky middle of arms fits cash or GPP depending on your tolerance for variance. Five names worth running.

Tarik Skubal (DET) vs ATL | $10,700 | CASH

Slate-defining play. Atlanta's implied total is the lowest on the board at 3.62, Skubal carries a 26.7% strikeout rate, a sub-3 ERA, and his FIP is even better than that. He runs a small platoon split this year (.342 wOBA vs LHH on a tiny sample versus .245 wOBA vs RHH), and Atlanta has more right-handed bats in the everyday lineup than left. Pay up and don't overthink this. Floor is high, ceiling lights up GPP rosters too.

Cristopher Sánchez (PHI) vs SF | $9,700 | CASH

Sánchez is the slate's stealth elite play because his ownership is going to be a fraction of Skubal's. The 28% K rate, 2.94 ERA, and 2.57 xFIP all line up. San Francisco's implied total is only 3.06 and the Giants run heavy on RHH where Sánchez is at his sharpest in 2026 (his vs-RHP results have been driven by an unsustainable .42 BABIP, the underlying contact damage allowed is fine). The xFIP says he's the best pitcher on the slate per inning. Lock him in.

Logan Webb (SF) vs PHI | $8,700 | GPP

Webb is the regression buy. ERA at 4.86 looks ugly, but his xFIP is 3.54 and his BABIP is .321. He has been unlucky in a way that screams positive regression. Citizens Bank Park is the wrong venue if Webb gets the ball up, but he is a heavy ground-ball guy who can survive even with the wind blowing out. Philadelphia's lineup has plenty of LHH where he runs his worst splits, so the variance is real. The play is purely on the talent gap and the lower ownership.

David Peterson (NYM) vs WSH | $6,200 | GPP

The salary discount is real. Peterson's ERA is 6.41 but his xFIP is 3.69, and his BABIP sits at .39 which is the highest among Wednesday starters with at least 15 IP. Washington's implied total is 3.06, the second-lowest on the slate. He's a lefty getting a Nationals lineup that has been bottom-tier this year. The path to a quality start exists at this price point if even half of the BABIP regression hits.

Cade Cavalli (WSH) vs NYM | $7,200 | CASH

Cavalli has a 4.01 ERA and a sub-3 FIP across his first six MLB starts. He runs a steep platoon split, .41 wOBA vs LHH versus only .27 vs RHH, and the Mets are a lefty-heavy lineup anchored by Soto and Bichette. Riskier than the others. But the Mets have the slate's second-lowest team OPS vs RHP and the price tag accounts for the variance. At $7,200 with a 7.5 game total, the path to value is there.

Pitcher Regression to Watch

Sample sizes are modest at this point in the season for everyone but Skubal, Webb, and Sánchez. Use this section as directional, not gospel. Two starters tonight project as significant regression candidates and both shape stack construction.

Eduardo Rodriguez | NEGATIVE REGRESSION CANDIDATE

Rodriguez has a 2.89 ERA across 28 innings but his FIP is 4.98 and his xFIP is 4.61. The BABIP is unsustainably low at .244 and his LOB% is sitting at 86%. Translation: he has been pitching in front of a defense that has stranded a ton of inherited runners and converted balls in play into outs at a rate well above his actual contact damage allowed. Milwaukee, his opponent tonight, gets the regression bump. Their team-implied total of 4.53 is already pretty good but the pricing on Brewers bats is suppressed because Rodriguez's surface ERA looks scary. This is where to mine GPP value, not on top stacks.

Logan Webb | POSITIVE REGRESSION CANDIDATE

Webb's ERA-versus-xFIP gap is over 1.3 runs and his BABIP is .321. He has been hit in unlucky spots and given up extra-base contact at a rate his profile does not support. Owners are scared off because the surface ERA reads as a fade. It is not. As a GPP arm at lower ownership, the talent edge is real. If you are stacking against him, expect his line to look better than the season-long ERA suggests.

Final Thoughts

Cash builds get easy tonight. Skubal plus a five-stack of Orioles bats vs Peter Lambert leaves enough salary to round out everything else without compromise. The cleaner alternative if you want to be different in cash is Sánchez at $9,700. His xFIP is the best on the slate, his ownership will be a fraction of Skubal's, and that gap is where this Wednesday's leverage actually hides.

Watch the rain in Pittsburgh closely. PNC has the slate's highest precipitation forecast and any postponement late afternoon takes Bubba Chandler off the board, removes a stack target in the Pirates lineup, and shifts STL exposure into question. The Camden drizzle is lower grade but a delay there scrambles ownership math too. Keep a backup build queued for both. Watch the Atlanta lineup card late as well, because Acuna and Olson both project as strong sleeper-model bats vs Skubal even if the public will mostly fade.

The GPP pivots tonight are Houston, Cincinnati, and the rare Skubal fade. Houston is the contrarian power play because their salary tags suppress on a road game where the implied total is lower than their offensive ceiling justifies, and Yordan vs Bassitt is the slate's juiciest single-batter spot. Cincinnati is borderline chalk on the pitcher side because of GABP and the wind, but Sal Stewart at $5,300 is one of the best leverage bats on the board if you can resist filling out the rest of the stack with the lower-OPS regulars and instead extend down to Tyler Stephenson and Spencer Steer. Pivot off Skubal in tournaments by going Sánchez plus a third arm like Webb or Peterson, and use the salary savings to fit a third Orioles bat or a Yordan into your core.

Construction note for Wednesday: do not mix Orioles and Astros stacks heavily. The game total is 9 but the ROO model puts the offensive ceiling on Houston (because Bassitt is a tire fire vs lefties) and the implied edge on Baltimore (because Lambert is unproven). Pick a side. Mini-stacking the other team for two bats is fine but the runs total argues against doubling up. If forced to choose, Baltimore is the higher-floor stack and Houston is the higher-ceiling stack.
