1 more games in the heatmap

Create a free account to see every team's matchup ranks. No credit card, it takes about 10 seconds.

Ranks are out of 32 teams, 1 is best for that team. Offense and power play: more is better. Defense and penalty kill: less is better. Rates are per 60 minutes at that strength. Season blends last season (counted as 20 games) with this season.

How to read the NHL team matchups heatmap

Each row is a team on tonight's slate, and the two teams in a game sit next to each other. Every cell shows the team's rank out of 32, where 1 is the best result for that team.

Green means target with: a strong offense or power play, so the team's skaters are good DFS plays. Red means target against: a weak defense or penalty kill, so the opposing skaters get a boost.

Rates are per 60 minutes at that strength, so a team that spends more time on the power play does not get extra credit for volume. The Time/GP column shows the volume separately.

Season and last 10 games

Season blends last season with this season. Last season counts as 20 games, so this season takes over as games are played. Last 10 shows only the 10 most recent games for each team.

How to use team matchups for NHL DFS and betting

Look for a green 5v5 offense column next to a red 5v5 defense column on the other team. That team's lines have the best even strength environment on the slate.

For power play stacks, compare a team's power play ranks with the opponent's penalty kill ranks and the Time/GP columns. A high-volume power play against a weak penalty kill is a strong PP1 stack spot.

For totals, the 5v5 pace column shows how many shots per 60 both teams combine for. Two high-pace teams with weak defense point to more shots and more goals.
