The Game
Sunday night is at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, open air, overcast and 67F with the wind under 3 mph, so neither kicker loses any range. Detroit lays 3.5 on the road with the total at 50.5, and the posted team totals sit at 27.5 for the Lions and 23.5 for the Panthers. Detroit is 2-1 after a 31-24 win over the Jets, while Carolina is 1-2 after losing 21-18 in Cleveland, a week after beating Atlanta 34-3.
Jared Goff has thrown 39, 38 and 32 passes, and Bryce Young has thrown 37, 36 and then 48 in Cleveland, so both offenses throw plenty, but Detroit's run game against this Carolina front is the biggest mismatch on the field. Carolina has given up more DraftKings points to running backs than any team, 32.5 a game across three weeks, and Detroit's rushing attack holds a 126-point rating edge over the Carolina run defense, the widest gap anywhere in this game. Last season Carolina gave up 4.99 YPC and eight touchdowns on runs up the middle, and Detroit scored eight of its own touchdowns on runs through that same gap. On the other side, Detroit has surrendered 33.4 DraftKings points a game to quarterbacks and 34.4 to tight ends, the most in the league at both spots, which gives Young and the Carolina tight ends a real path.
The over needs Gibbs breaking long runs early and Young answering with another 40-plus dropbacks against a secondary that receivers have torched for 41.0 a game. The under is Detroit going up two scores and grinding the clock with Gibbs, Carolina stalling past midfield, and Jake Bates and Ryan Fitzgerald trading field goals.
Detroit Lions

Amon-Ra St. Brown ($11,000) has drawn 35 targets in three games, catching 23 for 228 yards and five touchdowns, with 10.7 targets expected tonight, close to 30% of the Detroit passing game, against prop lines of 7.5 catches and 75.5 yards. Carolina's defense played zone on 88% of its coverage snaps last season, and St. Brown averaged 9.42 YPT against zone compared with 7.87 against man, which gives him the better of the coverage matchup. He's the second-most likely player to lead this game in scoring, at $1,000 below Gibbs, so I'm using him at CPT and FLEX for small- and large-field contests alike.
Jameson Williams ($7,000) has caught 10 of 17 targets for 127 yards with no touchdowns, and his 5.2 expected targets come with lines of 3.5 catches and 50.5 yards. He busts in nearly half of his outcomes at a price that crowds out cheaper Carolina pieces, and I'll hold my exposure below the field's outside of builds that need a long Detroit touchdown. Isaac TeSlaa ($4,200) turned three targets into three catches and 66 yards against the Jets, but nine targets all season makes him a touchdown-or-bust dart throw for me.
Sam LaPorta ($6,600) has caught 14 of 19 targets for 144 yards and a score. He's expected to see 6.0 targets, in step with a 4.5-catch, 47.5-yard prop. Detroit lined up with two or more tight ends on 36.5% of its 2025 plays, but Brock Wright ($1,600) has caught three passes for 12 yards all season, so the second tight end is a blocker first and a $1,600 salary-relief piece second. LaPorta is a fine mid-tier FLEX, though the field will reach Williams and LaPorta in the same price range, and I'd rather spend those dollars on Carolina's cheaper tight ends.
Jahmyr Gibbs ($12,000) has carried 65 times for 307 yards and four touchdowns, caught 18 of 21 targets for 156 yards and two more scores, and he's set up for 21.5 carries and 5.5 targets against lines of 19.5 attempts, 96.5 rushing yards and 4.5 catches. He tops the box score more often than anyone else here, he gets the defense that has bled the most fantasy points to backs, and his receiving work keeps his floor playable if Detroit falls behind, so I'm playing him in all my cash-game builds. Sione Vaki ($3,000) has nine carries for 40 yards and only works when Gibbs comes off the field.
Bates ($5,000) carries an 8.5 kicking points line, two points above Fitzgerald, which is roughly one more field goal, but his over is priced at +106, so the books lean toward him falling short of it. He's a cash-game kicker on the side favored by 3.5. The Lions D/ST ($4,000) faces a quarterback who's thrown 121 passes in three games, and that much dropback volume gives a pass rush chances, but at $4,000 he's a large-field piece only.
Goff ($10,000) has completed 77 of 109 passes for 802 yards and eight touchdowns, against a 34.5-attempt, 257.5-yard line tonight and a Carolina defense that has allowed 20.6 points per game to quarterbacks. With 15 rushing yards to his name this year, Goff needs the passing volume to hold up his floor, and the crowd rarely starts him at CPT compared with how often he tops the scoring, so I'd use him as a cash-game FLEX piece and lean on him as a CPT in large fields.
Carolina Panthers

Tetairoa McMillan ($9,000) has caught 12 of 23 targets for 193 yards without a touchdown, and he's expected to draw 8.5 targets, 22.3% of the Carolina passing game, with lines of 4.5 catches and 70.5 yards. Receivers have scored 41.0 DraftKings points a game against Detroit, second most in the league, and if Coker sits, McMillan absorbs the bulk of his targets, so he's a strong small- and large-field CPT candidate that the field rates below the two Detroit stars. Jalen Coker ($7,400) is questionable with a quadriceps injury after catching 18 of 22 targets for 222 yards and two touchdowns, and his 7.7 expected targets would make him the slate's best price-adjusted receiver if he's active, but the inactives post 90 minutes before kickoff and every Coker lineup needs a backup plan.
Brycen Tremayne ($2,600) had no targets in the first two games, then caught four of six for 83 yards in Cleveland, and he's the receiver who picks up snaps if Coker can't go. John Metchie III ($3,200), who arrived to replace the 50 targets Rico Dowdle left behind, caught two of five targets for 19 yards and a touchdown last week. Both are touchdown-or-bust dart throws, with Tremayne the better one if Coker is ruled out.
Darren Waller ($4,400) caught five of eight targets for 51 yards last week and has two touchdowns this season, and his 4.2 expected targets come with a 3.5-catch, 28.5-yard line. Carolina's tight ends hold an 85-point rating edge over the Detroit coverage, the second-biggest gap in this game, and no defense has given up more to the position, making Waller a top price-adjusted play and a cash-game piece. Tommy Tremble ($2,400) has caught seven of 11 targets for 70 yards and Mitchell Evans ($2,000) has five catches for 58, with Carolina using multiple tight ends on 32.5% of 2025 snaps, which leaves Tremble as the salary relief that fits a two-quarterback roster.
Chuba Hubbard ($9,400) carried 19 times for 82 yards and caught all four targets last week, and he's slated for 15.6 carries and 3.9 targets against a 16.5-attempt, 66.5-yard line. He's caught all nine of his targets this season and scored twice through the air, but he plays for the side with the lower total against the run defense with the better rating, and he draws more CPT entries than his chances of topping the scoring deserve, so I'd use him in FLEX in builds where Carolina wins. AJ Dillon ($3,400) has 12 carries for 41 yards and no targets to speak of, which rules him out for me.
Fitzgerald ($4,800) carries a 6.5 kicking points line with his over at -134, so the books expect him to clear it, and he's the cheaper way to roster a kicker in builds where Carolina stalls inside the 30. The Panthers D/ST ($3,600) draws a Detroit offense that has scored 31 points in all three games, so I'd only touch it in big-field builds.
Young ($9,800) has completed 72 of 121 passes for 939 yards and seven touchdowns, and he's set for 38.1 attempts against a 35.5-attempt, 242.5-yard line, facing the defense that has allowed the most fantasy points to quarterbacks. He scores more than anyone else at his price, he has the lowest bust rate of any skill player on the board, and he's $200 cheaper than Goff, making him a cash-game FLEX and a strong CPT in every format.
Top Plays
| Player | Category | Salary | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jahmyr Gibbs | Overall | $12,000 | 83 touches in three games against the defense allowing the most points to backs. |
| Amon-Ra St. Brown | Overall | $11,000 | 35 targets in three games and a zone-heavy defense ahead. |
| Bryce Young | Overall | $9,800 | 121 attempts in three games against the league's softest quarterback matchup. |
| Darren Waller | Value | $4,400 | Eight targets last week and the most generous tight end defense in football. |
| Tommy Tremble | Value | $2,400 | Seven catches on 11 targets at a price that fits both quarterbacks. |
| Jake Bates | Value | $5,000 | The higher kicking line on the favored side. |
| Jared Goff | Leverage | $10,000 | Eight touchdown passes and a CPT crowd far thinner than his ceiling deserves. |
| Tetairoa McMillan | Leverage | $9,000 | Carolina's top target earner, and the biggest winner if Coker sits. |
| Brycen Tremayne | Dart Throw | $2,600 | 83 yards on six targets last week, with more room if Coker sits. |
| Brock Wright | Dart Throw | $1,600 | The second tight end in an offense that used two or more on 36.5% of its 2025 plays. |
The Captain's Chair
Gibbs at $18,000 is my single-entry CPT. He's the likeliest player in this game to finish as the top scorer and the field gets him to the CPT spot at about the same rate, so I'm not giving anything away by joining them, and his CPT price still fits Goff, Young, Bates, Waller and Tremble around him.
For large fields, Goff at $15,000 is my CPT, since his odds of finishing as the top scorer run more than double how often the crowd will start him there, and he's the quarterback the crowd overlooks because Young carries the softer matchup. To be alone, I'd CPT Coker at $11,100 if he's active, a cheap receiver with a positive gap between his ceiling and his CPT popularity, and if he's ruled out I'd move that exposure to McMillan.
I'm leaning on two results from past first-place lineups here. 48% of winners rostered both quarterbacks, and with Goff and Young priced $200 apart and both facing defenses that have given up real points to the position, I want both in most builds. Just 8% of winners used the entire $50,000 and a quarter of them left $2,000 or more unspent, so I'm comfortable using Tremble and Wright as salary relief rather than squeezing in Williams.
Stack Ideas
CPT Jahmyr Gibbs, Jared Goff, Bryce Young, Jake Bates, Darren Waller, Tommy Tremble
The single-entry build, Detroit running through the middle of the Carolina front with Young and the two Carolina tight ends as the bring-back, at $49,600.
CPT Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Bryce Young, Tetairoa McMillan, Tommy Tremble, Brock Wright
The shootout, betting Goff and St. Brown carve up the Carolina zone while Young and McMillan keep pace, at $48,800.
CPT Bryce Young, Tetairoa McMillan, Jahmyr Gibbs, Sam LaPorta, Darren Waller, Tommy Tremble
Carolina falls behind early and Young throws 45 times to McMillan and his tight ends, with Gibbs and LaPorta having built the Detroit lead, at $49,100.
CPT Jalen Coker, Bryce Young, Jahmyr Gibbs, Jared Goff, Jake Bates, Brock Wright
The lower-owned CPT, only if Coker is active, betting his 18 catches in three games turn into a two-touchdown night, at $49,500.
CPT Jake Bates, Jahmyr Gibbs, Jared Goff, Bryce Young, Ryan Fitzgerald, Darren Waller
The under, with both offenses stalling in the red zone and Bates kicking four field goals, at $48,500.
Model Recommended Bets
Detroit wins 24.5 to 20.6 in our runs, a 45.1-point game against the posted 50.5, and our edge clears the bar in two markets.
Under 50.5 (-104) is the strongest play on this board. We have the game staying under in 64.8% of our runs against a devigged 48.5%, a 16.3-point gap, and both of Carolina's last two games finished at 39 points or fewer.
Carolina moneyline (+172) is a smaller edge. The Panthers win in 40.5% of our runs against 35.4% devigged, a 5.1-point gap, built on Young's passing volume against a Detroit defense that has allowed 30 or more points in two of three games.
Long Shot Touchdown Bets
No long shot on either roster clears our number by enough to bet. The closest is Bryce Young at +450 to +575, where our side puts his chance at 17.4% against a devigged 14.4%, but he's carried three times all season, and four weeks in our usage inputs still lean on summer assumptions, so I'm passing.
Going the other way, Tommy Tremble at +440 to +600 is priced at 13.9% against our 10.6%, Isaac TeSlaa at +425 to +450 sits at 15.4% against our 12.6%, and John Metchie III at +550 to +675 is at 11.1% against our 9.4%. Jameson Williams at +190 to +210 is the shortest price I'd avoid, at 27.8% against our 22.4% for a receiver who hasn't scored yet this season.
Final Thoughts
My one lineup tonight starts with Gibbs at CPT, and Goff, Young, Bates, Waller and Tremble fill the FLEX. That roster carries both quarterbacks and the best Carolina tight end matchup, with $400 unspent.
The Coker call is the one thing I'm tracking before lock, since an inactive Coker moves McMillan up my CPT list and pushes Tremayne from a dart throw into a real FLEX option.
In big tournaments, Goff and McMillan get most of my CPT exposure, since the field will crowd onto Gibbs and St. Brown in that spot, and a $15,000 Goff still fits Gibbs in the FLEX.
